Biography

Kathleen (Katie) Soso, MSN, RN, CPSN-R, CNE, ISPAN-F, joined the SXU faculty in 2018. Soso is an alumna of SXU's undergraduate nursing program and earned her master's in nursing, nurse educator track, from Benedictine University. In addition to serving as the lead instructor at the sophomore level, Soso also contributes to student retention as an academic success coach for the undergraduate nursing program. Soso obtained her Nurse Educator certification in 2019.

Soso's clinical background is in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. She has been a Certified Plastic Surgical Nurse (CPSN) since 2011 and a medical micro-pigmentation artist since 2008. Soso has served on the board of directors for the International Society of Plastic and Aesthetic Nurses (ISPAN), has chaired the Clinical Practice Committee since 2016, and contributes to the organization's journal, Plastic Surgical Nursing, as a peer reviewer. In 2019, Soso was awarded the title of ISPAN Fellow, which designates dedication to exceptional leadership, education and a commitment to the plastic and aesthetic nursing specialty.
